White Crystal
challenging the perception of value

My aim was to exploit the elegant, wafer-thin property of keraflex porcelain and reinvent the 'crystal' glass with a new material. I researched more about lead crystal, its origins and 'life story'. This helped me to marry the two materials and consolidate my concept. Keraflex has an exciting consistency and allows one to laser print, laser cut and fold it similar to origami. I had only 2 weeks to come up with a complete, considered design. Drawing from the crystal inspiration, my concept became a quirky range of tableware. The inspiration is most evident in the large diamond-shaped facets that dictate the overall form and shape of the products.
